Back from a wonderful vacation to Dubai and Abu dhabi... Travelling with an infant is never easy but we had a great time with our 3yr old... thanks to a couple of friends and loads of patience.. lol....
The trip was very last minute however we squeezed in a lot....
We found Abu Dhabi much more fun and family friendly ... loads to do... travel is also easy and not expensive (as u can take the bus jus 4dhs p.p to almost anywhr in abu dhabi).
Surely u will need a stroller with an infant as it will be a lot of walking for him if u dont take a taxi.
Some of the things we managed to do in Abu dhabi
1) there are 2 zoos , The Emirates Park Zoo and The Al Ain Zoo:
The Emirates Park Zoo is the one that we visited
open Sun- Wed 9am-8pm
Thurs- Sat 9am-9pm
its at Al Bahia mort east of Abu Dhabi
Tickets 25 DHS child DHS10
Absolutely fantastic Zoo if u want to interact with the animals... feeding session with practically all the animals.... not the wild life unless u plan to be eaten... lol...
We had a great time ... I would give it a 5/5.... with domestic, wildlife, a small aquarium, birds, and all the little eateries inside....
A great Zoo to visit.
There is also the Al Ain Zoo which we did not visit as it was a 1.45 hr drive from Abu Dhabi
However the hav a large variety of animals... so I've heard
Its open from 9am-8pm
Tickets Adult 20dhs kid 10dhs
2) The next we visited was the Khalifa Park which had a mini circus and lots of rides and fun things to do for kids...
3) Yas Water World - Ferrari World
It is 32 mins drive from abu dhabi, better to go on a weekday to beat the crowd.
Its open from 10am-6pm
tickets 235dhs (with an additional 100dhs u can visit ferrari world same day)
Bus no 190 goes to yas and ferrari world. (can check with RTA for time table.)
Ferrari world is 10 min walk from yas water world.
We had a great time at Yas .... kids will hav a blast
If u really keen on doing all the rides, do call and chk if all are open.( yas waterwold and ferrari)
4) Corniche Family Park - Abu Dhabi
This was a great park where u can hire bicycles on half hourly basis ( 20dhs for small bike, 40dhs family bike) its nice wide open space to go cycling... with the beach around the corner wher u can take a dip if u like to, or chill at the cafe while u watch people playing beach ball ..
It has a small play area too where the kids can enjoy themselves... Def worth a visit...
The other things that u can try at Abu Dhabi are
Def go to the mosque nxt to khalifa park.... u will be speechless...
dress code is conservative.
U could also visit the Ikea store which is a home store at Yas Island
and the Marina Shopping mall.
There is a Hili Fun city at Al Ain which is open from 4pm -10pm (mon-thurs 55dhs) 12-10 (fri&sat 60dhs) If u hav a long stay at Abu Dhabi u cld try this as well.
DUBAI:
For those who wanna save up on the travel cost, and dont mind the walk, u cld buy the NOL card at the Metro (used for metro and bus).... the Metro is well connected and wil take u to all the places of interest. Don't ask me about the Night life as I dont have one as of now :-(
